We are educating rural children in Sindh and equipping them to become leaders since 2002. The very first school of PEP was opened in a small village of Mirpurkhas, rural Sindh, and most of the students in that school were from Bheel community (a rural Hindu tribe). The Bheel community was marginalized because the people were very poor and worked only as farmers. The children of the Bheel community worked along with their parents in fields and many girls and boys were working as bonded labors. They were considered as lower caste and other people did not want to interact with them because they were poor.
But what this community needed was, acceptance, respect and the most of all, education! Most of the problems Bheel community faced was because of not having education and something had to be done.
Thus, PEP opened a school in this community and many children, girls and boys got an opportunity to receive education. And in this new village school, It was the first time when girls had started going to a school.

WHY GIRLs?
Along with educating children, PEP has always been passionate about educating women because their was a deep need to free women and girls of this mindset that they are not valuable to their community. Women in rural Sindh needed to know that they are as purposeful to the society as the men are. And if they are educated, the next generation will be an educated generation.
PEP began the Women's Empowerment Programme for women and girls in rural Sindh with a special focus on promoting girls education and increasing girls enrollment in PEP schools.
