How We Work

We invest money raised through fundraising and amazing donors like you to create self supporting schools for marginalized communities in Sindh. When PEP opens a school, we help the school to become sustainable by providing quality education and various trainings for the students and teachers thus making them change agents in their communities.

In addition to opening schools  PEP focuses on developing girls' education as only 22% of girls are literate in rural areas.

Our  Approach

The first approach we take is to build relationship with the communities. We try to connect through conversations with marginalized communities who have less hope for a better education. One of our local staff members, who is a Community Liaison Officer takes up this responsibility and goes to those poor communities and speaks to them about the importance and impact of education.  Sometimes it can be hard to convince people because they cannot afford education and they only earn enough to feed their family. But PEP provides low cost quality education that makes it possible for every child to have the opportunity to attend school in their own village. Every family pays a contribution for their child's education that covers the teacher's salary. In this way the school not only becomes sustainable but the parents learn that it is their responsibility to educate their children.

Our Methodology

Our teaching methodology is especially designed to make learning enjoyable and teaching effective. Our unique curriculum focuses on building confidence (through public speaking and role plays), developing leadership skills (through encouraging participation in class and outdoor activities) and teaching English as it helps minority groups improve their status so that they can access their rights and have more job opportunities.  We also use interactive learning resources that keeps a student involved during class.

In addition to the government subjects, we provide PEP students with a supplementary curriculum. This involves four subjects:-
  • Peace education
  • Social and Financial Education. (Aflatoun)
  • Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
  • Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS)
